Sarah Vautour
"Sarah Vautour, soprano...her sound was appropriately mysterious and intense, with an urgency behind it that never got in the way of beautiful, lyrical singing..."
PARTERRE BOX
"Beautiful, lyrical singing."
"A forceful vocal presence."
“Soprano Sarah Vautour was brilliant, with a forceful vocal presence opposite Montenegro as his love interest. Embodying the resourceful Beatrice, Vautour was able to capture a naive spirit and, instead of “sultry” such as in the 1994 film, she portrays an intelligent young woman in control of her own destiny, and was a reminder that opera singers can be superb actors. In scene nine “Es curioso” she commanded the stage with her exquisitely tragic aria describing the fate of her beloved Mario as he courageously perished at a political demonstration. Her intensity was irresistible, and her singing provided solid musical commentary on his heartbreaking fate.”
