American soprano, Sarah Vautour, is in her first year as a Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist at Los Angeles Opera where she makes her company debut as the Dew Fairy in Humperdinck's Hänsel and Gretel under the baton of Maestro James Conlon. Other assignments for the 18/19 season include covering the Celestial Voice in Verdi's Don Carlos, as well as covering Gretel in Hänsel and Gretel. Additionally, Ms. Vautour will sing Bithia in Henry Mallicone's Moses as part of the LA Opera Cathedral Project series. She comes to LA Opera following a summer as an Apprentice Artist at Des Moines Metro Opera, where she covered Adele in Johann Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus, and appeared in scenes singing the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Birdie Hubbard in Regina, and La Comtesse Adèle in Le comte Ory.

Ms. Vautour earned her Master of Music from Rice University, where she appeared in partial roles as Ann Truelove in The Rake’s Progress , Gilda in Rigoletto, and Norina in Don Pasquale. Ms. Vautour’s other notable engagements include the title role in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda and Morgana in Handel’s Alcina with CCM Opera d’arte. She made her Aspen Music Festival debut in the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni under Maestro Robert Spano in the fully staged premiere of Stephen Stucky’s The Classical Style . Prior to this, Ms. Vautour sang the role of Rose Maurrant in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene with Harrower Opera . 

In the 2017/2018 season, Ms. Vautour appeared under the baton of Maestro Thomas Jaber as the soprano soloist in the Poulenc Gloria, and again, later, with the Houston Masterworks Chorus as the soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah . Additionally, Ms. Vautour and pianist Elizabeth Buccheri gave a performance in Aspen’s Harris Hall as part of the Aspen Chamber Series.
